"My experience with Scott Smith’s office and State Farm during my roof claim has been extremely disappointing and deeply disorganized. From the very beginning, communication was inconsistent, delayed, and often contradictory. Despite multiple emails and calls on my part, I rarely received clear updates or accurate information about the status of my claim.

The situation became so chaotic that both the local office and the national claims department repeatedly told me they “didn’t know my claim number,” which they used as the reason they couldn’t provide any information or return my calls. This was despite the fact that I had submitted all required documentation through State Farm’s online portal and had been in constant communication with Scott’s office, with email proof and call logs to support it. Their internal disorganization caused unnecessary delays and answers for EIGHT weeks.

What made this even more concerning was the complete lack of involvement from Scott Smith himself. Despite my ongoing communication with his office, he did not step in, reach out, or speak to me directly at any point during those first seven weeks. The only time he finally contacted me directly was after someone representing me on my behalf reached out to him, not because of my repeated attempts to get help.

The issues were serious enough that I ultimately filed a complaint with the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. It should never require state‑level intervention just to receive basic communication, accountability, or support from an agent/company who is supposed to advocate for their clients. Even after the complaint, it wasn’t Scott’s office that contacted me with solutions, it was corporate claims, who were unfortunately just as unhelpful.

This entire experience has been stressful, time‑consuming, and far below the level of professionalism I expected from an insurance agent’s office. Based on how my claim was handled, I cannot recommend this office."

As your local agency, we explained from the beginning that we are not licensed in claim decisions and can only attempt to get responses to back to you from those who are licensed. We returned calls and emails and routed all information to the claim handler over your claim. I personally escalated this to the highest level available and advocated for an additional inspection which took place on the morning of January 27. The claims team made their initial decision quickly and you reached out to our office to ask if there was more that could be done. We tried every option available to us and these sometimes take time, especially after a windstorm where several other properties were affected. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to provide you with better service in the future."

"Joy helped me set up my policy and was so great! I had very limited availability to call, and she was so helpful with finding a time to talk with me. It is my first time on my own policy and so I have had to separate everything from my parent's account and am in a different state than them as well. It wasn't necessarily the easiest process but she was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me very well."
